General Information
The AVE Business Center is a unit within the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR), that performs specialized business services for our departments. The AVE team works together to provide efficient, professional, and easily-accessible service in grant submission, budgeting, and financial management of all sources of funding for our customers — the faculty, staff, and students —in the units we serve.
The AVE Business Center is dedicated to serving the business administrative needs of the following units.
- Animal Science Department
- School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences
- Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine
- Great Plains Veterinary Educational Center
- Nebraska Veterinary Diagnostic Center
- Entomology Department
- Forensic Science
- Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program
- Nebraska LTAP
AVE Personnel
- Provides overall guidance to Business Center staff
- Provides guidance to unit administrators, faculty, and staff in fiscal management and grants/contract administration.
- Serves as liaison to IANR Finance & Personnel, IANR Deans & VC offices, and all other university functional offices in the management of fiscal issues.
Financial Staff
- Overall supervision of the finance function.
- Overall supervision of the grant management function.
- Management of Grants and Contracts (Pre-Award).
- Grant proposal Development (tracking, budgeting, review, match, and entry and routing in NUGrant).
- Act as grant liaison with IANR Ag Finance and Personnel and the Office of Sponsored Programs.
- Advise on university, State and Federal grants and contracts laws and regulations.
- Provides fiscal coordination for the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, the Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine, and the Great Plains Veterinary Educational Center.
- Unit account reconciliation and monitoring.
- Purchasing Card management and reconciliation.
- Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
- Travel coordinator.
- Develop financial reports for faculty and staff.
- Provides fiscal coordination and account management for the Nebraska Veterinary Diagnostic Center (NVDC).
- Provides overall guidance to the NVDC administrators, faculty and staff in fiscal management/budgeting and development of operating procedures.
- Serve as liaison to IANR Finance & Personnel, IANR Deans & VC Offices, and University of Nebraska-Lincoln functional offices in the management of fiscal and human resources.
